Sneakers to Cop Now

The state of the economy around the world in 2022 has been detrimental to the sneaker resell market. In the United States specifically, we have dealt with a rise in gas prices, a rise in the price of goods and services, and a rise in the price of things we commonly enjoy. Inflation is a major problem and many people are feeling the effects of what has been happening. Unfortunately for sneaker resellers and small consignment shops, this means people have less money for sneakers which are nonessential for living. This topic has been discussed throughout the sneaker media world in 2022 by YouTubers, bloggers, and mainstream sneaker media companies. Although the economy is in a disparaging position, if you do have the means to spend some extra money on sneakers, then this is an opportunistic time to do so. The sneaker resell industry mirrors the stock market; when things are trending in the direction of an economic recession, then the stock market is crashing and so is the price of sneakers. Though this may be a terrible indication of the economy, it also means the cost of sneakers to invest in may be at a discounted price.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, the sneaker secondary market was booming because people were receiving money from the government or working from home and not going anywhere to spend money. During the pandemic, people became more interested in sneakers because the industry became very social media friendly and people had no where to go and nothing to do. People who had already been into sneakers were posting their collections and taking pictures of what they had stored in the closet, and people gravitated to that content. We also can’t forget that The Last Dance Michael Jordan documentary released during the pandemic, and his sneakers once again became the focus of the industry after kind of taking somewhat of a backseat in terms of hype to Yeezys and other sneakers. After the documentary, Jordan brand footwear skyrocketed in price. If you were into sneakers before this period or you became interested during the pandemic, sneakers became very difficult to obtain because of the quick growth of the industry through social media and the inflated prices as a result.

Today, we see somewhat of a correction in the secondary market, and it is a good time to take advantage if you have the means to do so. Here is a list of some of the sneakers you should be looking to cop now while the prices are reasonable and before the holiday season gets started. All of the prices have been taken from StockX which is the best online gauge for sneaker prices on the secondary market. The average sale price is the average price listed on StockX for size 10.5 or 11 men's shoe (sizes that were arbitrarily chosen because they are common shoe sizes). That price will give you an idea of what the sneaker usually sells for. However, keep in mind that the average price may be higher than what the sneaker is actually selling for currently because that price also factors in the high prices for people who purchased the shoe before the release or before the market started taking a dip (this is important because the shoe may eventually start to sell for its average price if its higher than the current selling price).

The sneakers listed below can be good investments if you're not really interested in wearing any of them. Most of the sneakers listed are collaborations that will hold value or potentially go up over the next 6 months (other sneakers are quality GRs). Pay attention to the notes in red listed under some of the sneakers as they will tell you more about the market for that particular sneaker. Honorable mentions for sneakers not shown will be listed as well.
